Bustier/Crop Top-- DIY

Recently Crop Tops and Bustier Style tanks have been seen everywhere from Urban Outfitters to American Eagle. I love this look but have difficulty sparing much money on such little fabric...I decided to opt for a cheap DIY and was happy with the results.
I started off with this cheap Lace Tube Top I managed to find at Rue 21 for a whopping $5. Some of the other supplies I needed were...

Some sort of Lace or Fabric trim to make the Strap. A basic thread/needle & Studs, Beads, or any kind of Charms you can get your hands on to add some sass. I attached mine using a glue gun, I know this is a easy way out but my sewing skills are pretty sad so I will definitely be hand-washing this baby.

Step 1-- I hand sewed the straps on using some black thread. I wanted to make mine a halter so I sewed the straps on the left and right side of the front and made sure to keep the fabric xtra-long to later cut in the center, so I could tie a bow.

Step 2-- I cut the center of the Lace Fabric so each strap was equal in length. This way I can tie the halter easily and get add a feminine touch with the bow in the back.

Step 3-- I added the studs in a funky pattern to add some edge to my Bustier/Crop Top. Like I said I used a glue gun, but if you have the sewing skills more power to ya, go ahead and sew away...

Step 4-- The length on the tube top hit right at my hips, so I chopped off about three-four inches at the bottom to make the top land right at my waist. I'll most likely pair this top with high-waisted shorts so I assumed this fit would be most flattering.

There you have it, a funky versatile Bustier/Crop Top. These were two different styles I put together. The first is a little more casual & the second is more of a going out look.

I cannot wait to wear this one out at Sixth Street in Austin, TX!
